Reminder For Team Day!

Team Day will be June 15, 2011 (Wednesday). For team day we will be outside all day so you will need proper footwear and the correct type of clothing. You also will need to drink a lot of WATER! We also ask that you send in $2.00 by Tuesday June 14, 2011 for the BBQ food.

Things to wear
-shorts
-sneakers (No flip flops, flats, sandals)
-No dressing up
-Bring water bottles
-Maybe bring extra clothes for water balloon and egg toss

Please remember to bring the food you signed up to bring!

Naturalist Convention Wed. 6/15 - You're Invited!

Hello Apollo Families -

Team Apollo would like to invite you to our final Learner Celebration of the 2010-2011 school year. Time flies! We encourage you to attend on Wednesday, June 15th from 8am-10am in Cafeteria B where our students will showcase their work on the Naturalist Unit. Students have worked hard to explore their relationships with nature from an intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extrapersonal perspective. They will share artwork, written work, and the findings of self-designed experiments. Please join us as we recognize the hard work, abilities, and creativity of these Apolloites!

5/23 Science

Students were handed their scored "Rainy Day" assessment today. A parent/guardian should sign it and students should return it to class for Tuesday, 5/24.

Student are also encouraged to make corrections on the assessment. They should meet with me first if they are interested in doing so.

Science NECAP

On Weds (5/18) and Thurs (5/19) of this week, 8th grade students on our team will take a NECAP assessment in science. The NECAP assessment tests students' general science knowledge and ability to conduct a science investigation. It is recommended that students get plenty of sleep and eat breakfast on those days to best prepare them for the exam. If you have any questions, please contact me.

5/12 & 5/13 Science

In preparation for the 8th grade science NECAP exam next week, 7th and 8th grade students took the district assessment "Rainy Day Morning" on Thursday and Friday. The "Rainy Day Morning" assessment tests students ability to design and conduct an experiment, skills we've been working on in science throughout the whole year. I hope to score the assessments and return them before the NECAP next week to give students feedback on their inquiry skills and to improve test scores in this domain. 8th Grade
Students will take a quiz on Thursday. Be sure to complete the practice worksheet and study exponential relationships and exponential operations. Spend some time on khanacademy.org !

7th Grade
Students continue practicing their skills with tables, graphs and equations of linear relationships. We started the following practice in class, and it should be completed before Tuesday: 4ACE #2-12, 43, 44.

8th Grade
Students are learning about growth factors, growth rates and compound growth in their study of exponential relationships in Problem 3.2. The following practice is assigned:

Bottle Drive

4/26 Science

Energy convention projects are due at the beginning of class tomorrow. We will present them in the library during class time.

Students received back a quiz today in science. They should have it signed by a parent/guardian and returned to class.

Greetings Students, Parents & Guardians,

Welcome back! You are cordially invited to attend Apollo Science's Alternative Energy Convention on Wednesday, April 27th in Milton Ms/Hs' Library. Students have been working diligently to create a project that demonstrates how a particular type of alternative energy source works. We would like you to join us and share in their learning. Students will present their projects during their scheduled science class time. Please consult with them as to what time you should attend. Our class times are listed below:

7th grade
Students used tables, graphs, and equations to locate the point of intersection between two sets of data.

8th grade
Students completed their unit test on congruency and transforming coordinate points and figures by reflection, rotation, and translation.
