We will also learn about the 14 levels of organization within/throughout organisms and, towards the middle of this week, we will investigate the structure and function of the human brain. We will study neuroanatomy through the lens that we can actually change the structure of our brains, a concept known as neuroplasticity. I plan on having pig/cow brain specimens on Thursday (9/17) for students to make comparative observations. Students that are hesitant for whatever reason will not be forced to participate in the brain observations. They should see me as soon as possible for an alternative activity. Likewise, any parent that is concerned about their son or daughter handling these specimens should also contact me. Observing specimens is a memorable and exciting part of science and all students are encouraged to work within their comfort level.

English homework

Hello to all grade 7 & 8 students. I want to remind you that your typed rough draft report due date has been moved to Friday. However, this does not mean that you can't turn it in earlier. Although this gives you more time to write this week, it also means that you will receive your rough drafts back after break and will need to revisit the report again to make changes. Turning it in before Friday ensures an opportunity to make changes before vacation, putting the assignment to rest.

I also want to remind students to practice spelling words for a quiz on Thursday, and to review the vocabulary, making sure you know the meanings of the 10 words.

I will take the vocabulary written in composition books any day this week, however, the official due date is Thursday for all vocab assignments.
